Clean the plug and get rid of the cover. Find the water leak that caused the issue. The one I had was leaking tail light gaskets. The tail lights had water in them. I have a BMW 320i E46 2004 and the indicator lights have just stopped working the dash indicators don't work either, the globes do not flash and if i press the hazard lights nothing happens. normal lights come on but high beam also not To roll up the windows it must be done via the driver's door lock. * No high beam indicator though they work. * No seatbelt or light on chime. * Interior light do not turn off when the motor comes on. They have defaulted to the timer of when doors were closed. * Interior lights do not come on when motor is shut down. With the ignition on, browse your dashboard menu using the left stalk until you see “CHECK.”. Press the BC button to select the “CHECK” menu. Here are what my symptoms where and what I did to fix it: Symptoms. * Speedo, Tach, Gas, Coolant Temp, MPG, Odo, gauges not working. * None of the steering wheel buttons are working. * Turn signals not working. * Fan works but A/C does not. * Radio works. * ABS and Seat Belt lights work. * Instrument cluster lights up.
Eg. I'm turning right with my indicator on, if I click right again, it turns the indicator off. Saves sometimes clicking left to turn it off and it ends up indicating left! Also I have it set to 3 blinks so when I half depress the switch (ie. Not all the way down), it will blink 3 times and stop. Mainly used changing lanes.

It came on when I started the car this evening. Red headlight icon next to an icon of the car (car icon like the one that warns you when a door is not fully closed). Since it is solid, I'd think this could either indicate a problem with the security system, or it needs to be reset. Most security systems will reset if you get out of the vehicle with all the doors closed, then lock/unlock using one of your master keys (not the key fob). I don't know if this will work in this situation, but it's worth a try.
If one or both of your tail lights and turn signals in the back don't work or sometimes don't work you may have the common problem of a bad ground.
Not effected and working fine:-. Xenon Headlights. Interior lights - Door Lights / Reading Lights / Courtesy lights / Vanity Lights. Sometimes during the flickering issue when turn car off brake lights turn on and stay on. Only temporary solution I have found is removing negative cable from battery for a while may solve this. The turn signals all started working again after a few miles. This past week, the alternator died. My indie BMW shop replaced the alternator with a remanufactured Bosch unit, replaced the related pulleys, tensionors, etc and the car ran fine. The front turn signals on both sides were beginning to fail intermittently. I took the bulbs out to find that the contacts in the bulb housing were corroded and almost gone.
